Rap & Bespoke Manufacture

At Rap we pride ourselves on our ability to not only manufacture the products we sell to you today, but manufacture to your bespoke requirements to ensure that you receive a product that is high quality at a low cost and most importantly works the way you need it to.

We like to work closely with our customers so that we can provide the best possible service and product. A lot of the time our customers like us to provide their whole office with matching screens from our various ranges; from acoustic desktop screens for their desks to freestanding pinnable screens for displaying. In this case we ask them to send over an office plan or a quick drawing so that we can see the layout they hope to achieve and make suggestions on the best solutions for them. As a manufacturer we can also manufacture the screens to exact sizes, so if you need to fit a screen into a gap that is 1234mm wide we will make that screen to fit perfectly into the gap for you so that our products fit around your needs, not the other way around.

Economy Office Screens

We also have the ability to design products that are more suited to you that involves a slightly different look to our standard products. Some of our customers have previously requested a printed insert in their Budget Screen or coloured acrylic on their Morton Screen. As a manufacturer if this is something we can do, we’ll do it. And it won’t cost you the earth either. We’re able to pass all of our savings by ‘cutting out the middle man’ onto you, the customer.

Morton Vision Screens

It’s not just our screens that we offer bespoke designs for- we also manufacture printed displays. From Pop Ups to roller banners, and even printed partition screens and display boards, we print all in-house which allows us to offer a graphics service on the majority of our products. We have designed many exhibition stands to allow our customers to make the most of the strict stand space they are given. So if you have a stand that’s 3m wide by 2m deep we will work out the best display solutions to maximise the display area you have whilst providing you with a high quality stand printed with your own custom graphics.

Meet The Rap Team- Interview with Amanda

Can you tell us when you first joined the Rap team?
-I joined Rap in May 2012 so I’ve worked here for 2 years.

Can you tell us what your job role is and what that entails?
– I’m a production assistant, which means I process the sales orders once the sales team pass them through, create the cutting lists for the factory, organise the courier for delivery, raise the dispatch notes, and create the labels for stores. I also liaise with the courier to provide the customer with an ETA.

What is your favourite part of your job?
– My favourite job within my role is organising the couriers. I have a really good rapport with them which makes working with them a lot run smoother.

What skill would you like to develop to help you in your role?
– I would like to learn more about the processes they go through in the factory. I create the cutting lists for them, but I’d like to know what that then entails for them.

Where would you like to be in 5 years’ time?
– I really love the job I’m doing, and I’m very happy where I am. I’d like to stay in the same position I’m in currently, with maybe the possibility of taking on a few more jobs to help other colleagues in the same department.

What skills do you need to learn to excel in your job?
– You need have good computer knowledge, especially in Microsoft Excel. We use Excel a lot, so it would be really difficult if you didn’t know the basics of it.
Time keeping is very important. We need to make sure all the orders are allocated to a delivery van by a certain time, and make sure everyone has all the information they need when they need it. You also need to prioritise. Sometimes there will be things happening that throw you out of routine but it’s important to be organised and keep on top of your work.
At Rap you I would say the most important skill you need is to be able to make a good cup of tea!

How do you find the people you work with?
– They’re all very reliable and trustworthy. I know if I need help, or am struggling with my own work load I can ask one of my colleagues to help and know they will do a good job. I really enjoy coming work. They are have such a good sense of humour, and we have a good laugh together.

Are there any areas of the business you would like to know more about?
– I would like to know more about the artwork and print side of things. It seems really interesting.

What are the positives of working at Rap?
-It’s like working for a really nice BIG family. Everyone gets on so well and has a good relationship with everyone else.

What could be done to improve your role?
– The only thing that interrupts me when I’m working is when the printer doesn’t work or the system goes down, but these are technical issues that don’t happen very often and there isn’t really a lot at the time we can do. Everything else works really well.

Could you tell us a little about yourself?
– I love gardening, and walking my two dogs. I like spending time with my family, we have a lot of family BBQ’s and get togethers.

Meet The Rap Team- Interview with Jane

Can you tell us when you first joined us here at Rap?
– I joined the team in June 2014

Why did you first decide to apply for the job?
– I’ve been a sales administrator before so I already had the skills I needed to do the job. I really liked the idea of working for a family run business, and the products interested me as they weren’t something I’d worked with before.

What is your favourite part of your job so far?
– I like talking to the customers, hearing their different stories and what they’re buying the products for, if they’ve got a big show coming up. I like to take an interest, it helps me to understand the customers’ needs more.

What skill would you like to develop to help you in your role?
– Learning more about the products, the features and benefits of each one. This will help me give a better service to the customer by relaying this information to them.

Where would you like to be in 5 years’ time?
– Customer service is already a rewarding career. I just want to do a good job and provide excellent service to the customer. I like working in sales, and I think as long as you are happy in your job that’s what matters.

If you could change one thing about your job what would it be?
– I don’t like sitting at the desk all day, I’d like to be more active but I think that’s because I am generally a very active person. Where possible I would like to spend more time up and about, even assisting more customers in the showroom would be great.

What skills do you need to learn to excel in your job?
– I think I need to learn about other people’s roles, and all the procedures and processes, so that I can make sure I’m following all the guidelines and at the same time keeping the order process running smoothly. If I was to deviate from the procedure that’s already in place this would take up more of someone else’s time and slow things down.

How are you enjoying your new role and colleagues?
– The role is brilliant. I’m still learning but all of my new colleagues are really supportive. I felt really welcomed, they were all so friendly.

Are there any areas of the business you would like to know more about?
-I would like to know more about production, what happens to the order once I’ve passed it through to begin the manufacture process. Learning about what then happens at manufacture through to when the order is dispatched would be really helpful when I’m giving the customer information.

What are the positives of working at Rap?
– It’s a positive friendly environment; I feel I get along with everyone. We have a good informal management system that makes me feel comfortable if I ever need to ask them questions, and the support it always there if and when I need it! I’ve received ongoing training which is great. We also have activities outside of work so I can get to know my colleagues a little better.

Could you tell us a little about yourself?
– I’m quite a quiet ‘stay at home’ girl. I love reading, and creative writing. I’m a big fan of the arts. I live in the country, and love taking my dogs for a walk.

Interview with Jane from Rap Industries

Rap Summer BBQ 2014

So on Saturday 28th June 2014 the Rap team got together at The Plough, Farcet Fen for our annual summer work party.

Starting at 3.30pm we started with team building games provided by Promobile Events in which the group were split into 5 teams of 6, and given 4 different tasks to complete.

The First game was Football Roller Coaster in which the teams had to maneuver the football from one end of the bridge to the other, and back again without dropping the ball.

On the Crazy Ski’s the teams needed to move to one end of the room turn around, and move back again working together.

Air Juggler was the next game on the list where the teams had to move the ball along using air blown from the cones.

The game Milk the Cow is exactly what it sounds like. The teams had to take it in turns to ‘milk the cow’ and the team with the most water in the bucket were the winners.

After the final game is was a draw between two of our teams so we had a deciding challenge of Human Motorbike. Using everybody in the team they had to use nothing but themselves to build a motorbike.
